GRANDS CRUS, OUR EXCELLENCE ASSET

Yvon Mau Grands Crus has been a key player in the world of Grands Crus since 2004.

Right from its first humble steps in Grand Cru trading in 2004, Yvon Mau Grands Crus has developed this new business, and is now recognised as one of the key distributors of the most prestigious Bordeaux wines.

Given the specific features of this work, a dedicated team of specialists was created. These buyers and sales representatives work in close collaboration with estates to create a complete, closely monitored range to benefit Freixenet Gratien’s increasingly demanding clients. This special relationship with Grands Crus enables us to consolidate and develop our allocations. Available via en primeur campaigns, these rare stocks are also kept in perfect conditions in the Yvon Mau Grands Crus cellars so that they can be offered up later on.

Yvon Mau Grands Crus has selected a range of authentic, exclusive wines that share the same work philosophy – loyalty, trust, a lasting economic model, and excellence – and combine values, style and taste. They are the ultimate selection of unmissable wines, designed to delight Freixenet Gratien’s clients on a daily basis.

Les Grands Crus Bordeaux wines

Well known and much appreciated all over the world, the Bordeaux wine region offers a wide range of wines spanning brands, chateaus, and Grands Crus with a global reputation.

Located in south-western France, Bordeaux’s vineyards cover more than 110,000 hectares, influenced by a temperate oceanic climate and the two rivers flowing through the region: the Garonne and the Dordogne. Its wines have an ‘Appellation d’Origine Protégée’ (protected designation of origin) that requires compliance with a strict set of specifications for the winemaking process.

Made primarily from the Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties, the appellation allows for wines in three colours (primarily red at 85% of volume, then white – both dry and sweet – and rosé) and even sparkling wines with Crémant de Bordeaux. There are 65 appellations for Bordeaux wines, and the ‘Bordeaux & Bordeaux Supérieur’ appellation represents 44% of annual volume.
